A bookshop for readers in India.

BookVuk sells printed books in English and Hindi — the kind that arrive in a parcel and sit on a shelf afterwards. We keep the catalogue honest, the pricing plain, and we take books back when you are done with them.

We buy your books back

Finished with a book? Tell us what you have and we quote for it. Post it in, and the credit lands in your account to spend on the next one.

The cover price is the price

Indian books carry an MRP, and an MRP is inclusive of all taxes by law. So nothing is added at the till — no tax line appearing at the last step. Only delivery, and that is free over a set amount.

Hindi, typed however you like

Search finds कबीर ग्रंथावली whether you type it in Devanagari or as “kabir granthavali”. It survives a misspelling too, which matters when the word was never yours to spell.

Why a book should not be read once

Most books are read once and then sit on a shelf for years. That is a waste of a good book and of the money that bought it. So this shop works in both directions: it sells books, and it buys them back — and the ones it buys back go on sale again, cheaper, next to the new copy.

A second-hand copy is listed as a variant of the title, not hidden on a separate page, so you can see both prices and pick. If a title has no used copy yet, you can ask to be told when one arrives — and that is also how we learn which books to go and pay a reader for.
